We'll miss you Jason
To the Editor:
Thank you Jason for all those years of dedication you so unselfishly gave to the Downey Rose Float Association. Your exceptional talent will be missed. We regretfully accept your resignation. It is a huge understatement to say that we were struck with great surprise and deep concern when we read your letter in last week's Downey Eagle. This was an unfortunate way for you to choose to inform the officers of this association of your feelings and of your intentions.
We wish you and Monica the very best in the coming years. May you both enjoy happiness in your new home in Whittier.
-President Mike Prokop and the Board of Directors,
Downey Rose Float Association
Anti-fireworks
To the Editor:
Citizens For A Safe Downey ran an advertisement in the January 4 edition of The Downey Eagle seeking volunteers and donations in the support of "Yes on Measure L," banning all fireworks in Downey. Even though much of the mail was received we were notified today that some supporters received their letters back, marked return to sender. The error at the Post Office has been corrected and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
The address listed in the ad is correct, Citizens For A Safe Downey, P.O. Box 455, Downey, CA
We can be reached by phone at (562) 861-7001.
We need your support!
-Citizens For A Safe Downey,

Answers Redfox
To the Editor:
This letter is in reply to the letter from Jason Redfox printed in the January 25, 2002 issue. It is very nice of Mr. Redfox to thank the community for their support, but I feel that he should not malign the organization that has made it financially possible for him to exercise his artistic talents the past several years. Without the support of this organization he would not be able to build the floats for the community. He is being unfair to the organization that works very hard year after year to make the float possible. If he has a problem with "small handful of leaders within the organization" who he claims have made the past few years unbearable, he should confront these people personally and not criticize the whole organization in the media.
-Jayne Smith,
Downey
